The NSR Method

Nervous system regulation, for practitioners who want to understand the body in front of them.

NSR came out of years of working with clients who felt stuck in their own bodies.

By that point I had a long list of certifications. Pilates across every piece of equipment, yoga, Animal Flow, strength, rehab, pre and post natal. Good trainings, all of them. And not one of them taught me the thing I actually needed.

Which was how to read the body in front of me.

Not assess it. Not screen it for dysfunction and prescribe corrective exercise. Read it. How it moves. How it holds. What it is protecting. And, most of the time, which nervous system state it is currently operating from, because a body that is shut down and a body that is running hot need entirely different things from you, and giving either one the wrong thing is how people end up stuck for years.

NSR is what I built to teach that.

What it teaches

How to read a body before it has told you anything.

How to recognise the state a nervous system is in, and what that state means for what you should and should not do next.

How to work with a body rather than at it, whether you have an hour on the mat, a class of twenty, or five minutes at the end of a session.

How to hold a room when something moves in it, because when you start working this way, things do move, and knowing what to do in that moment is the difference between a practitioner people trust and one they do not come back to.

Who it is for

NSR was built for fitness professionals, because that is where I came from and that is where the gap was most obvious. Trainers, Pilates and yoga teachers, group instructors, anyone putting bodies through movement without having been taught what those bodies are doing underneath.

In practice it has turned out to suit a far wider range of practitioners. Bodyworkers, massage therapists, energy workers, coaches, anyone whose work depends on reading people accurately.

You do not need a background in somatics or energy work. You need to have spent enough time with bodies to know that something is missing from how you were taught to see them.

The certification

NSR is a practitioner certification, accredited by the IPHM, delivered in person over five days.

Numbers are kept small, because this cannot be taught to a lecture hall. You learn to read bodies by reading bodies, with someone watching what you are seeing and correcting it in the moment.

The first cohort opens soon. If you would like to know when dates are announced, get in touch and I will tell you first.

If this is the thing you have been missing, you probably already know it.
